Palmetto Place Success
We just completed a job at Palmetto Place in Boca Raton. Our team replaced (6) 20 Ton Aaon units along with the duct work. There were 3 different roof levels.
The President and Owner of the company, Ira Katz of National HVAC Group that hired us, was on site while the job was being done. He said he had worked with similar projects all over the country, had been doing this for many years.
He called to say that he rated our guys on a scale of 1 to 10 and gave our crew “10 out of 10”which he has never done. He said that he has never worked alongside a more efficient and professional crew as the Thermal crew.
"Never worked alongside a more efficient and professional crew as the Thermal crew."
Rated us a 10/10—something he has never done before!

Martin County School District

Thermal’s “Whatever it Takes” team earns kudos from the Martin County School District: “Man you guys are good! I was really worried about getting the old chiller out and the new one in and they got that done quickly without a hitch”, Rob Moyer, MCSD Project Manager.
At the end of 2019 the School District purchased an older building known as “The Old Stuart News Bldg.” and began the process of converting the property to serve as their new Administration Offices. That project included replacement of the building’s primary chiller and cooling tower with a new Trane Agility chiller and Marley cooling tower. We were contracted at the beginning of the year to do this work and started working on-site in March. Normally a 200-ton chiller wouldn’t raise too many eyebrows, but this chiller was located in a second-floor mezzanine mechanical room with access from a 1st-floor warehouse; we offered to use Larry’s old trick of removing the concrete wall panel to the exterior of the building, but the District would not allow that. The chiller had to come through a small double door with about 2” clearance on each side, out onto a concrete landing and then be brought to the warehouse floor using a Broderson Crane with a flat deck to carry the unit through the warehouse, due to the narrow warehouse overhead doors. After a lot of planning, a breakdown of the crane and bit of nail-biting, the old chiller was out and the new one on the pad in under 5 hours. The look of relief on the customer’s face was priceless.
Thank you to the team for an outstanding job and for showing the customer what we’re made of: Bob Woods, Kevin Stouky, Bill Jennings, Sergio Santana, William Pino, and Giovanni Vanegas and posthumous thanks to John Satterfield for setting this up and getting the ball rolling

900 Biscayne RTU Project
After months of planning, the 900 Biscayne helicopter lift was accomplished Sunday 6/28. The project involved replacing two 100% outside air units residing 675’ above ground level. Since there are no cranes available in our region to reach the top of many of the new buildings in our area, the only means of replacing rooftop equipment is by utilizing an air crane service. Thermal Concepts has performed more of these types of projects than any of our competitors and we now have the reputation to make us the number one choice.
Aside from the associated rigging challenges, the FAA permits, road closures, evacuations, securing property for landing and staging is by far the greatest challenge.
This project was delayed many times due to COVID 19 and difficulties with obtaining all the permits required. The last hurdle was on the Friday before the scheduled lift date when the park that had already approved our use withdrew their approval.
Friday evening, Doug Daniels, Ana Maria Velez and Krystal Demicco teamed up and promptly implemented “PLAN B”! They were able to secure the American Airlines Arena as our new staging area and get us the Green light to proceed with the City. It was then that Russ Picard began mobilizing several trucks here at our facility as well as four tractor trailers from the crane storage yard to prepare for the helicopter lift the following Saturday.
This was a team effort with office personnel doing traffic and crowd control during the lift.
- Gerrie Marshall for keeping a close eye on safety and keeping everyone hydrated
- Russel Ramirez and his Construction team members for assisting with the rigging and sheet metal work.
- ROTH Controls for handling the automation
- Freddy Rodriguez for handling the electrical portion of the project.
35 total lifts, zero damages, zero injuries 100% successful mission!
